And so it begins
This is my WIP (Work In Progress) blog of my construction of the Revell 1/570 scale RMS Queen Mary. This kit was first produced in the 1960s and is still being made. There are over 200 parts molded in white styrene. I plan to extensively detail this ship and correct some major flaws in the kit.
The model is nearly 21 inches long. I have read that the actual scale of the kit is 1/596, and not 1/570 as advertised. This is a good thing as I plan to use a couple of different 1/600 photo etch detail sets available for this kit. I will be using the Gold Medal Models 1/600 Merchant ship set and the White Ensign Models 1/600 Queen Elizabeth / Queen Mary photo etch detail set.
I will also be added real wood decks to the model from KA-Models.
At this point I am still doing research and thinking about how I am going to correct some of the flaws. I am also looking at using decals to simulate some of the windows.
I hope to use this blog to aid others who are looking to build this kit as well as to keep me motivated to keep plugging away at this until I have finished. Stay tuned.

Purchased the model and the merchant photo etch set, but can find the White Ensign Models 1/600 Queen Elizabeth / Queen Mary photo etch detail set for sale on the internet. Where did you purchase yours. Any help is appreciated.
